Lay AIR-CELL® over and running to the bearers and fix in position.
Install joist as required.
Fix AIR-CELL® to the underside of joists by stapling or screwing.
Butt join and tape with 48mm reinforced foil tape.
Leave 100mm of join untaped midway between joists to allow for any moisture to drain, or perforate with a sharp knife in areas where joins are not available.
Alternatively, AIR-CELL® can be installed over the joists provided it doesn’t compromise the fixing of the chosen flooring, and the AIR-CELL® is allowed to sag at least 40mm between joists.
Segmental Method (Timber Frame)
Cut AIR-CELL® into panels which are over sized by 50mm to fit between the framework in each direction.
Insert panel at mid depth on the floor joists and fix to sides using staples or screws.
Overlap joins by 50mm and tape with 48mm reinforced foil tape.
Note: This method will not provide a continuous vapour barrier.
Roll Permifloor™ 500 in parallel direction to floor joists ensuring that it is set in-between joists with the antiglare side facing upwards.
Gently push down on the rolled out sections of Permifloor™ 500 so that the material is set to the depth in line with the bottom of the floor joists.
Ensure that there is sufficient up-turned laps of Permifloor™ 500 on the inside of each joist.
Fix the up-turned Permifloor™ 500 laps to the inside of the floor joist using staples or screws at approx a maximum 150mm centres.
Note: This method will not provide a continuous vapour barrier.
These instructions are guidelines only and should be interpreted with consideration for the specific building design. This installation of AIR-CELL® should be in conformance with the applicable clauses from AS 3999 and AS/NZS 4200.2 unless otherwise specified.
AIR-CELL® can be damaged by intense heat above 135˚ C and contact with sparks and flame from blow torches, welders, cutting tools, etc. must be avoided.
The installer must make due provision for safety when installing AIR-CELL® in any application.
Handling and Storage
AIR-CELL® Insulation products must be transported in its protective packaging and kept clean and dry. Standing rolls on end reduces risk of damage should moisture be present in the packaging. Surfaces must be kept free of contaminants such as dust and grease, and must not be stored with foil surfaces in contact with alkaline materials i.e. wet cement, lime, etc.
