Framed Walls
Counter Battern Method
- Roll out Air-cell horizontally and fix to outside of frame.
- Cut AIR-CELL® carefully around doors, windows and other openings, so that it neatly abuts to frames.
- Butt join AIR-CELL® sheets and tape with a 48mm wide reinforced foil tape.
- Fix counter battens and exterior cladding.
Alternative Method
- Fix AIR-CELL® loosely to the outside of frame leaving flexibility for AIR-CELL® to be dished onto the wall cavity.
- Cut AIR-CELL® carefully around doors, windows and other openings, so that it neatly abuts to frames.
- Butt join AIR-CELL® sheets and tape with a 48mm wide reinforced foil tape.
- Provide for outer air space by either stapling AIR-CELL® to the side of the studs, or adhere the AIR-CELL® Spacer Biscuits to the outer face of the AIR-CELL®.
- Fix outer cladding.
Note: When flat sheet cladding is being installed over AIR-CELL®, burst the air bubbles with sharp knife or spiked roller so that the cladding can be fixed firmly against the frame.
Segmental Method (Timber Frame)
- Cut AIR-CELL® into panels which are oversized by 50mm to fit between the framework in each direction.
- Insert panels at mid depth in the frame and staple to sides, top and bottom of frame.
- Overlap any joins by 50mm and tape with 48mm reinforced foil tape.
Note: This method will not provide a continuous vapour barrier.
